From Data to Narrative: Redefining IR in the Age of AI

—Insights from Bloomberg

TruePulse Capital Advisory was invited to attend the Taiwan Investor Relations Institute (TIRI) Annual Conference, joining over 300 corporate executives and IR professionals to discuss the future of investor relations in Taiwan. Bloomberg, Extel, and S&P Global shared their perspectives on the evolution of global IR.

Bloomberg’s Hong Kong office discussed how the rise of data and artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming IR from a traditional communication function into a strategic pillar of corporate decision-making.

Bloomberg’s global observations show that over 80% of IR professionals now perform roles beyond traditional boundaries — acting as strategic advisors, market interpreters, and sustainability advocates. Strong IR creates value by attracting long-term shareholders and guiding management through capital market insights.

AI-driven investor targeting is redefining what “peer analysis” means. Instead of focusing only on industry rivals, companies should consider thematic peers (e.g., AI, 5G, trade policy) and factor-based peers (growth, volatility, valuation). AI can identify investors who hold similar profiles but not your stock — helping IR build smarter engagement lists.

As AI becomes a “gatekeeper” of information, IR must learn to write for machines — repeating key messages, using precise terminology, structuring data clearly, and maintaining confident sentiment.

AI does not replace IR; it redefines it.
In an age where attention is filtered through algorithms, clarity and consistency become strategic assets. IR is no longer just about storytelling — it’s about ensuring your story is understood.
